UI/UX Product Design

Editorial-grade UI/UX design and design systems for SaaS, fintech, and consumer products. Senior designers from publishing and product backgrounds — motion designed alongside layout.

01 — Approach

How we engage.

UI/UX product design that feels edited, not assembled.

SimplyRem designs SaaS interfaces, mobile apps, design systems, and editorial-grade marketing products for teams who care about how an interaction feels — the weight of a button press, the rhythm of an onboarding flow, the calm of a well-considered empty state. Every engagement is led by a senior product designer with a decade of shipped product behind them — most came from publishing or design-led product organisations. No template-driven design. No "Material 3 but make it our brand".

What we design

  • SaaS product UI & UX — dashboards, settings, admin panels, billing, and the long tail of screens that make a product feel finished or unfinished.
  • Mobile app design — iOS-feels-like-iOS, Android-feels-like-Android. Motion specified frame-by-frame and prototyped in Framer or code.
  • Design systems — component libraries built on Figma variables and tokens, paired with engineering in Storybook so design and code stay in lockstep.
  • Editorial-grade marketing sites — for studios, agencies, fintechs, and product companies whose brand is the conversion lever.
  • Onboarding & activation flows — re-designed user journeys that move the day-7 retention number, with research and experimentation to prove it.
  • Motion & micro-interactions — Reanimated, Framer Motion, GSAP, Rive, Lottie. Motion is designed alongside layout, not bolted on by an engineer at the end.
  • Accessibility audits & remediation — WCAG 2.2 AA-level work, including keyboard, screen reader, contrast, motion, and cognitive load reviews.

Why teams choose our product design services

  • Editorial rigour. Our designers come from publishing and product backgrounds. Typography is a system, not a font choice. White space is a decision, not what is left over.
  • Senior-only delivery. A staff-level product designer owns the engagement — no juniors quietly billed at senior rates.
  • Prototyped in code, not just Figma. Risky interactions are built in real code in week two so you know whether the gesture, the animation, or the data load can actually be shipped.
  • Accessibility built in from day one. WCAG 2.2 AA is the floor. Keyboard navigation, focus management, motion preferences, and screen-reader semantics are part of every component — not a "phase two" audit.
  • Designed for the engineer who will build it. Components map to real props. States are exhaustive. Edge cases are covered. Hand-off is conversation, not a 200-page Figma file.
  • Stay-on retainers. Most clients keep us on a monthly design retainer covering ongoing screens, new features, design-system evolution, and the slow steady work of raising the quality bar release by release.

Design system or one-off screens — what should you choose?

We are agnostic, and we will tell you honestly. One-off screens are the right call when you are validating a product and might pivot the entire shape of the UI. A design system is the right call when you ship multi-week-cycle features, have more than three engineers touching the front-end, or operate in regulated industries where consistency is a compliance requirement. The pattern we recommend most often: ship the first vertical slice as crafted one-off screens, then crystallise the system from the patterns that earned their keep — not from a 60-component library built up front.

Our UI/UX design process

1. Discovery & research (1–2 weeks)

We interview users, audit competitive products, and walk through your existing analytics. You leave the discovery phase with documented user journeys, opportunity mapping, and an annotated audit of where the current product is leaking attention, conversion, or retention.

2. Strategy & information architecture (1 week)

Navigation, screen inventory, content model, and a written design strategy aligned to your business goals. Reviewed with engineering so feasibility is signed off before fidelity goes up.

3. Design in fortnightly increments

High-fidelity prototypes in Figma, with motion designed alongside layout. You see real product every two weeks, reviewed live with the team — not via comments on a static screen.

4. Engineering hand-off & pairing

Hand-off is a conversation, not a hand-off. Our designers sit with your engineers (or ours) for the first build week of every component, catching the small things that make polished products feel polished.

5. Stewardship

Launch is a milestone, not a finish line. Most clients retain us on a monthly design retainer to evolve the product — adding screens, hardening the design system, running quality reviews, and pushing the craft bar up release by release.

The product design stack we ship

  • Design: Figma (variables, tokens, modes, branching), FigJam for workshops, Notion for written strategy.
  • Prototyping: Framer for high-fidelity, Principle for micro-interactions, ProtoPie for cross-device flows.
  • Motion: After Effects, Rive, Lottie, Framer Motion, Reanimated, GSAP.
  • Design tokens & theming: Style Dictionary, Figma Tokens / Tokens Studio, Tailwind CSS with custom themes.
  • Engineering hand-off: Storybook, Radix UI, shadcn/ui, headless component libraries, accessibility primitives.
  • Research: Maze, Dovetail, UserInterviews, in-product analytics via PostHog, Amplitude, or Mixpanel.
  • Accessibility: axe-core, Pa11y, manual VoiceOver / TalkBack passes, WCAG 2.2 AA conformance reports.

Who we work with

Our UI/UX design clients are typically Series A–C startups with a senior product owner, design-conscious founders, or product teams inside established companies who need an outside studio to ship a flagship redesign the internal team cannot prioritise. We do our best work when the brief is ambitious — retention, conversion, craft quality — and the people on the other side care about taste as much as we do.

Engagement models & pricing

  • Fixed-scope design build — $60k–$250k+, eight to twenty weeks. Best for new products or end-to-end redesigns.
  • Design system build — $90k–$300k, three to six months. Tokens, components, documentation, engineering pairing, and a versioned roadmap.
  • Embedded design squad — monthly retainer, one to three designers. Best for ongoing product evolution alongside your internal team.
  • Design audit & strategy sprint — $20k, two weeks. UX audit, opportunity map, and a prioritised redesign plan.

We are booking new design engagements one quarter at a time. Tell us what you are designing — we respond to every brief within one business day.

04 — Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do UI/UX product design services cost?

A focused product design build at SimplyRem typically lands between $60,000 and $250,000 for fixed scope, depending on screen count, research depth, and motion work. Design systems run $90,000–$300,000. Two-week design audit and strategy sprints are $20,000. Monthly embedded retainers start at $15,000 per designer.

How long does product design take?

A focused product redesign ships in 8–12 weeks. A new product end-to-end design typically runs 12–20 weeks. Design systems run three to six months. We work in two-week sprints with prototype reviews at the end of each one, so progress is visible fortnightly — not at month three.

Do you build a design system or just design screens?

Both. We are agnostic and will tell you honestly. One-off screens are the right call when you are still validating the product. A design system pays off once you have more than three engineers touching the front-end or ship multi-week-cycle features. The pattern we recommend most often: ship the first vertical slice as crafted one-off screens, then crystallise the system from patterns that earned their keep.

Will you work directly with our engineering team?

Yes. Hand-off is a conversation, not a Figma export. Our designers sit with your engineers (or ours) for the first build week of every component, catching the small things that make polished products feel polished — focus rings, hit targets, motion timing, error states, edge cases.

Do you handle motion design and micro-interactions?

Yes — motion is a core practice, not an add-on. We design motion alongside layout, prototype it in Framer or Rive, and ship reusable motion patterns implemented in Reanimated, Framer Motion, GSAP, or Lottie. The goal is motion that makes products feel calm and considered — not motion that performs.

Will the design meet accessibility standards?

Yes. We design to WCAG 2.2 AA by default — keyboard navigation, focus management, contrast ratios, motion preferences, and screen-reader semantics are designed into every component, not audited in afterwards. Accessibility audits and remediation are also offered as standalone engagements.

Do you do user research, or just visual design?

Both. Research is part of every product engagement — user interviews, competitive audit, journey mapping, and analytics review in discovery, plus usability testing through the build. For research-led engagements (re-platforms, complex flows, regulated industries), we lean on Maze, Dovetail, UserInterviews, and PostHog / Amplitude analytics.

Do you offer ongoing design support after launch?

Yes. Most clients keep us on a monthly design retainer covering ongoing screens, new features, design-system maintenance, quality reviews, and the slow steady work of raising the craft bar release by release. Continuity is where the compounding value of good design actually shows up.
