Website Development
Editorial-grade marketing websites, CMS builds, and headless e-commerce — fast, accessible, and SEO-first. Senior engineers and designers building brand sites that convert.
01 — Approach
How we engage.
- Editorial marketing sites — for startups, studios, fintechs, and product companies where the website is the brand and the conversion engine.
- Headless CMS websites — Next.js or Astro front-ends powered by Sanity, Contentful, Storyblok, or Payload, so your marketing team ships content without a developer in the loop.
- WordPress & traditional CMS builds — when your team wants WordPress done properly: a custom block theme, ACF, clean performance, and none of the plugin bloat that makes WordPress a liability.
- Headless & custom e-commerce — Shopify (Hydrogen / Liquid), headless commerce on Next.js, and bespoke checkout flows for brands that have outgrown the default theme.
- Landing pages & campaign microsites — high-conversion, fast-turnaround pages with A/B testing and analytics wired in from day one.
- Website redesigns & replatforms — migrating off a slow, dated, or unmaintainable site without losing your search rankings or your content history.
- Design systems for the web — reusable component libraries and brand systems so every future page is on-brand and fast by default.
- Editorial rigour. Our designers come from publishing and product backgrounds. Typography is a system, white space is a decision, and motion is designed alongside layout — not bolted on at the end.
- Senior-only delivery. A staff-level engineer and a senior designer own the build — no juniors quietly billed at senior rates.
- SEO and performance are built in, not bolted on. Core Web Vitals budgets, server-rendered HTML, semantic markup, structured data, and a clean URL architecture ship in every build — not in a "phase two" we both know never happens.
- Accessible by default. WCAG 2.2 AA is the floor. Keyboard navigation, contrast, focus management, and screen-reader semantics are part of every component.
- Your marketing team stays unblocked. We model the CMS around how your team actually writes, so content updates never require a developer or a deploy.
- Built to be handed over. Documentation, a component library, and a clean codebase mean the next developer — yours or ours — can move fast.
- Stay-on retainers. Most clients keep us on a monthly retainer for new pages, campaign launches, performance tuning, and the slow steady work of keeping a site fast as it grows.
- Frameworks: Next.js (App Router, RSC, ISR), Astro for content-heavy sites, Remix where it fits.
- Headless CMS: Sanity, Contentful, Storyblok, Payload, Prismic — modelled around your editorial workflow.
- Traditional CMS: WordPress (custom block themes, ACF), Craft CMS, Statamic.
- E-commerce: Shopify (Hydrogen, Liquid), Shopify headless, Medusa, Stripe-powered custom checkout.
- No-code / low-code: Webflow and Framer when the brief genuinely calls for them — we will say so.
- Styling & design: Tailwind CSS, Radix UI, Framer Motion, GSAP, Lottie for motion.
- Hosting & infra: Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, with edge caching and image optimisation tuned for Core Web Vitals.
- Analytics & SEO: GA4, Plausible, PostHog, structured data, Search Console, server-side tagging.
- Marketing site build — $25k–$120k, four to twelve weeks. Custom design, headless or CMS build, SEO foundation, and analytics.
- E-commerce build — $40k–$200k, six to sixteen weeks. Shopify or headless commerce with custom design and checkout.
- Website redesign & replatform — $30k–$150k, six to fourteen weeks. New design, new stack, careful content and SEO migration.
- Landing page & campaign sprint — $8k–$30k, one to three weeks. High-conversion pages with A/B testing wired in.
- Growth & CRO retainer — monthly, from $6k. New pages, experiments, performance, and ongoing SEO.

04 — Common questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does website development cost?
A custom marketing website from SimplyRem typically lands between $25,000 and $120,000, depending on page count, design complexity, CMS, and integrations. E-commerce builds run $40,000–$200,000, redesigns and replatforms $30,000–$150,000, and single high-conversion landing pages from $8,000. We publish honest ranges because scope, not guesswork, sets the price.
How long does it take to build a website?
A custom marketing site ships in four to twelve weeks depending on page count and content readiness. E-commerce builds run six to sixteen weeks; landing pages can be as fast as one to three weeks. We work in two-week sprints with pages deployed to a staging URL every fortnight, so you see real progress throughout — not a single reveal at the end.
What is the difference between website development and web application development?
Website development is content-led: marketing sites, brand sites, blogs, and e-commerce, where the goal is presentation, performance, and conversion. Web application development is product-led: logged-in apps, dashboards, SaaS platforms, and complex stateful tools. We do both, they share a stack, and many clients hire us for both so the marketing site and the product behind it feel like one company.
Should I use headless, WordPress, or a website builder like Webflow?
We are agnostic and will tell you honestly. A builder (Webflow, Framer, Squarespace) is right for fast launches with static content your team maintains. WordPress is right for high-volume publishing with a mature editorial workflow. A headless build (Next.js or Astro plus a headless CMS) is right when performance, design freedom, and a unified stack with your product matter. Most ambitious brands land on headless — and we will tell you when you do not need to.
Will my new website rank well on Google?
SEO is built into every build, not sold as an add-on. Server-rendered HTML, Core Web Vitals budgets, semantic markup, structured data, clean URL architecture, and careful redirect mapping on migrations all ship by default. We protect existing rankings during a replatform and lay the technical foundation for content and link-building to compound on. We can also run ongoing SEO and CRO on retainer.
Can you redesign our existing website without losing our rankings?
Yes — protecting search equity is a core part of every redesign. We map every old URL to its new equivalent, preserve or improve your content, carry over structured data, and validate the migration in Search Console after launch. Done properly, a redesign improves rankings rather than risking them — most of our redesign clients see Core Web Vitals and organic traffic go up.
Will our marketing team be able to update the site themselves?
Yes — that is the point of a well-modelled CMS. We design the content model around how your team actually writes, so adding pages, blog posts, case studies, and campaigns never requires a developer or a deploy. We provide an admin guide and a short training session as part of every CMS build.
Do you offer ongoing website maintenance and support?
Yes. Most clients keep us on a monthly growth retainer covering new pages, campaign microsites, performance tuning, A/B testing, dependency updates, and ongoing SEO. A website is never finished — and the compounding value of consistent improvement is where good websites pull ahead.
